How it works
We offer individual treatment for psychological complaints, for every adolescent and adult who experiences complaints and wants to tackle them actively. Both individuals and couples are welcome. Treatment is available in English at all our locations and online.
Introduction and intake
We start with a free, no-obligation introduction of about 20 minutes, by phone. We map your complaints in broad terms and explain our way of working.
If you decide to continue, an extensive intake session of 60 to 90 minutes follows, in which we examine the problem in detail, possibly using questionnaires. Where appropriate a diagnosis is made, and together with you we estimate the number of treatment sessions.
Treatment
Treatment typically takes five to twelve sessions. Follow-up sessions last about 45 minutes, scheduled weekly or every other week, as you prefer. We evaluate progress regularly. The final session focuses on relapse prevention, with optional follow-up appointments a few months later.
Our treatment methods
Our approach is based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), complemented where needed by:
- EMDR — for traumatic experiences and distressing memories.Read more about EMDR.
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — mindfulness and learning to accept feelings.
- Solution-focused therapy — goal-oriented, building on your existing strengths.
- Couples therapy — for relationship problems, using systemic therapy.
